Andre Onana transfer to Manchester United

According to reports, Manchester United is close to concluding a deal with Inter Milan for Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The Red Devils are looking for a new goalkeeper after allowing David de Gea to depart Old Trafford on a free transfer late last month.

Man United's first-choice goalkeeper is Onana, and the club is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Inter over the former Cameroon international.

The Daily Mail reports that negotiations between the two clubs are "close to completion," with Inter expecting to receive £43 million for the goalkeeper, including add-ons.

Onana reportedly reached a personal terms agreement with Manchester United some time ago; therefore, he will endure a medical once the two clubs have officially agreed on a transfer fee.

Onana is expected to join Manchester United on their preseason tour of the United States, and head coach Erik ten Hag is eager to use him as soon as feasible.

De Gea won the Golden Glove in the Premier League last season, and despite making some high-profile errors, he was again primarily impressive with his shot-stopping.

De Gea's suitability for a Ten Hag system that relies on playing out from the back was severely questioned, which contributed significantly to his departure.

Is Onana coming to Manchester United?

Onana's ability with the ball at his feet is one of his primary assets, and he is still said to have a strong relationship with Red Devils manager Ten Hag, for whom he previously played at Ajax.

The Cameroonian was in outstanding form for Inter during the 2022-23 season, appearing in 41 matches across all competitions while recording 19 clean sheets.

With eight clean sheets in 13 Champions League appearances, Onana was instrumental in Milan's run to the championship game.

Tom Heaton is the only senior goalkeeper presently available for the club, as Dean Henderson is still recovering from a thigh injury.

As Henderson is likely to move to Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis, Man United are anticipated to add another stopper to Onana's position.

The Red Devils are reportedly in negotiations with Urawa Red Diamonds to acquire 20-year-old forward Zion Suzuki, who could play as a number two or number three.
