In June 2023, an anonymous animator was cited in a Vulture article about the alleged difficulties of working on Across the Spider-Verse as expressing doubt that the film would be completed by March 2024.
"I've heard people say 'Oh, they probably worked on it at the same time'. "There is no way that movie will be released at that time," they said.
"Progress has been made in the pre-production phase. In terms of production, however, the only progress made on the third film has been any exploration or testing conducted before the film was divided into two segments."
Notably, Sony has not commented on the rumors, so as far as we know, the March 2024 release date will be met.
Early in June 2023, Phil Lord and Chris Miller told Rolling Stone that they were "well along."
Miller disclosed, "That said, there is still a lot of work to be done," while Lord added, "All we can do is keep working on things until we feel they are great."
