Emirates: New departments are organized in these universities

Mohamed Shalaby - | Arab

In the United Arab Emirates, institutions of higher learning, including colleges and universities, will be divided into research and non-research categories before being graded according to a number of criteria. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, claims that this would be a "milestone" for the nation's education system.

Four main criteria will be used to categorize the institutes: employment and job market alignment, scientific research and innovation, teaching quality and student life, and international partnership.

The Cabinet has authorized a national framework that will involve both public and private entities to accomplish this.

Sheikh Mohammed declared, "We are going to disclose the national classification results for more than 70 institutions." "The national classification is a significant step toward improving transparency and raising the standard of our higher education, enabling families to make well-informed decisions for the futures of their children."

Within each category, these institutes will be divided into four more tiers. Raising the bar for educational institutions, encouraging the adoption of sound academic methods, and cultivating an environment that enhances student life and education quality are the objectives of this.

The federal government's higher education institutions will also implement a new scholarship program to better fulfill the demands of the labor market.

This method, which has been approved by the Cabinet, will award financial scholarships following an evaluation and determination of the quantity of additional academic seats that must be established as well as the specializations necessary in accordance with the demands of the labor market. These will be evaluated by means of a prearranged process.

This will raise the standard of instruction at these establishments and keep them in line with the labor market, guaranteeing graduates of these programs access to careers and employment.
