Dubai Airport Welcomes 750K Eid Travelers for Summer Season

Dubai International Airport has experienced a significant surge in passenger numbers, with over 750,000 travelers passing through its gates since Friday. The extended Eid Al Adha holiday, coinciding with the start of the summer travel rush, has drawn a large influx of people to the bustling transport hub. The six-day public and private-sector holiday, along with additional days off taken by employees, has contributed to the heightened airport traffic. Lt Gen Mohammed Al Marri, director general of Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, emphasized the importance of utilizing the airport's smart gates system to avoid delays and ease the pressure on passport control officers. The biometric passenger journey, utilizing face and iris-recognition technology, allows passengers to pass through passport control in seconds. Lt Gen Al Marri noted that nine million individuals had already utilized the smart gates in the first half of the year. Maj Gen Talal Al Shanqiti, assistant general director of the Airports Sector at the GDRFA, expressed the goal of having 50 percent of passengers use the smart gates by the end of the year, particularly with the anticipation of more travelers during the summer holiday period.

Travelers have praised the seamless procedures, quick passport control process, and helpful assistance provided by the airport personnel.
